“Bart is one of the best up and coming jazz fusion artists right now”
— Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya - Grammy Nominated Indian Classical Artist and Director of the India International Guitar Festival
“Thank you so much Bart for an amazing show!”
— Liz Carnovale - Paris Cat Jazz Club Melbourne
“It's great to know that there is someone in Australia following what I see as a courageous musical path, and in a style that I have loved and followed for years. I hear hints of Shakti and John McLaughlin albums such as Que Alegria and Belo Horizonte, but more importantly you make it original and YOURS. I will follow your work!”
— W.Cox Review
“Fantastic session at the Tatts last Sunday with the virtuosic Bart Stenhouse Group. Classic jazz with French and Indian undertones. I’ll use the word 'virtuosic'.”
— Michael Bird, Lismore Jazz Club
“The Bart Stenhouse Group took us on fabulous musical excursions spanning Indian Jazz Fusion, Flamenco/Afro Cuban. Our audiences were in awe of the compositions, improvisation, virtuosity and versatility of the group's performance! ”
— Tom Henderson - Queen St Community Concerts - Yeppoon Qld
“What a fabulous night! Thank you so much! Your beautiful music and presence filled our heart and souls with lovely energy! The guests lingered on for a few hours afterward with you, which is testimonial to their gratitude and delight in every part of the evening. Bart Stenhouse - Flamenco & Jazz for the soul! ”
— Nelle Mawhinney - Friday Creek Bamboo Studio NSW
BART STENHOUSE (Guitars) is an accomplished Australian guitarist and composer, well versed in Indian Classical and Flamenco styles. He creates stunning sound worlds that blend the rhythms, harmonies and sonic identities of different cultures into a unique and engaging musical fusion. He is a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium and has gone on to study with the best musical masters all over the world, including North Indian Classical Maestro Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya (who is a Indian slide guitar specialist), and has also studied flamenco guitar in Spain and North America.
Bart has the muscle to settle any score. Musically speaking, that is. Packing a powerful ability to balance raw edge with feel good grooves, Bart’s music brilliantly blends fiery flamenco with cool jazz and rollicking Indian rhythms to create a sound that leaves the listener energised and ready for more.
Bart started on a musical journey from an early age. However, it wasn’t until recently that he found his true calling – world fusion music. Inspired by his travels across North America, India and Spain, Bart’s music explores the signature harmonies, rhythms and instrumental identities of different world music cultures.
Wielding his weapons of choice, electric and flamenco guitar and electric mandolin, Bart teams up with original artists across the globe to explore and craft soundscapes not heard before. An experienced producer, Bart records and releases his compositions under his own label, Stenhouse Records and in 2014 brought to the world his debut album ‘Blue Benares’. Hailed as ‘one of the best up and coming jazz fusion artists’ by Indian slide guitar maestro and guru Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya at the 2016 India International Guitar Festival, the young Australian composer is fast building a reputation as an original, collaborative and innovative artist.
